I have always been a fan of IT, Networking along with Internet and Security. Since 2002 I have been working as a freelance IT consultant specialised in Network, Security & Infrastructure design for small and medium companies.
Network Plan, Design & Implementation
Plan: This would typically be a small/medium office network where I can competently plan the entire network and write documents for the next phase.
Design: The design part where a network diagram is drawn and had to finalize on which gears needs to be bought including cost management and setting a deadline on the project.
Implementation: This part is when all the Planning and Designing part of the network puts into practice. This is the part where all the security side of the network are applied.
I do offer all three services but I also provide advice on them.
Network & Systems Security
Performing security checks on networks, insuring all the Cisco Routers and Switches are functioning correctly by going over the logs and configuration files. Such as going over and applying Port Security and Access lists are viewed to make sure all the network requirement are met. Updating IOS images on Routers / Switches.
Installing, Configuring and fine tuning Windows and Linux based servers for clients along with applying security patches etc. Along with maintaining servers on a timely basis.
Wi-Fi Deployment & Security
Deploying an Access point(s) or a Wi-Fi enabled router(s), along with implementing all the necessary security protocols on the network.
Cost & Project Management
I would assess a project and give an opinion on cost management and other aspects, and how efficiently the project can be completed on time with reduced cost and achieving the best results possible.
Web Projects
I would advise the clients on what kind of paths (php, ASP, MySQL etc) and platforms (Linux, Windows etc) would be ideal for them use on their websites / web projects along with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics.
Technical Support
Giving mainly phone and email technical support to clients and Junior System Administrators troubleshooting ideas spanning from Windows, Linux to Networking.
